GENERAL INFORMATION

Math Tutoring
The Math Team will be doing math tutoring during both lunches, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in B123, Mrs. Newberrys room. Students can stop by and pick up a pass from any math teacher to grab their lunch and then report for tutoring. Help will be available for Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2, this also includes help with honors classes.

American Mathematics Competition
Any student who wishes to take the American Mathematics Competition Test needs to sign up with Mrs. Newberry by Wednesday, October 28.  The cost is $4 and the test will be given on Thursday November 5 at 8 am in room D202. (10/28)

STUDENT SERVICES

DUAL ENROLLMENT
Reminder!  Students interested in Dual Enrollment must reach out to Mrs. Hawthorne at kikki.hawthorne@hassk12.org     Also, your completed Dual Enrollment CONTRACT forms are due to Mrs. Hawthorne by November 6th. That is the last day to sign up for Spring 2027 Dual Enrollment courses.  (11/6)

SCHEDULES FOR SEMESTER 2
Students are able to view their 2nd Semester schedule in PowerSchool. If you have an error in your schedule, the deadline to submit your Semester 2 Schedule Change Request form is November 24, at 3:00pm. The online form can be filled out using THIS LINK or can be found on the counseling webpage at: https://www.hassk12.org/o/hhs/page/counseling   (11/24)

College Application Workshops
Seniors, if you need assistance in filling out college applications, writing college essays, scholarship applications or anything college related,  join Ms. Herbert, Mrs. Hawthorne and Mrs. Cole in their office, B105, during lunch on Thursdays to get some work done! (10/30)

11th grade Work Skills Assessment
Attention Juniors!  You were emailed information about the Spring 2027 Work Skills Assessment, along with a waiver form for students who wish to opt out of the assessment. Paper copies of both the letter and waiver form are also available in the Counseling Office.

The Work Skills Assessment is optional for students who complete and return the waiver form to Kikki Hawthorne by February 28, 2027.
Important: If a completed waiver form is not received by February 28, 2027, students will be required to take the Work Skills Assessment.   Questions?   Contact kikki.hawthorne@hassk12.org (10/30)

FAFSA NIGHT
Seniors!  FAFSA Night coming up on October 28 from 5:00-7:00pm!  If you need help filling out the FAFSA, we will have FAFSA specialists here that are ready to assist you with any questions or concerns. Helpful items to bring include your personal information and laptop/chromebook (we will also have a few Chromebooks available to use).  If you would like a checklist of items to gather before you begin, feel free to pick one up in the Counseling Department or click HERE.  Feel free stop in anytime between 5:00-7:00pm.  (10/28)

CMU College Visit
Attention all students: The Counseling Department will be taking students to visit and tour Central Michigan University on Tuesday, October 27th. We will be departing the high school at 8am and returning before the end of the day. If you are interested, please sign up in the Counseling Office B105 and pick up a Permission Slip! The deadline to sign-up is October 25th. Grades, attendance, tardies and behavior are all factors in a students ability to attend. Questions? See Ms. Herbert.  (10/25)

College Month Celebration
The HHS Counseling Department is announcing our incentive for FAFSA completion! Any HHS Senior who completes their FAFSA and provides proof of completion will be entered to win a $50 Visa gift card! See the two steps below:

·  Step 1: Students must provide either a PRINTED SCREENSHOT with a DATE STAMP  and NAME of submitter for their FAFSA from the studentaid.gov website. 

You can also email renee.herbert@hassk12.org the screen shot that says you completed your FAFSA.

·  Step 2: For the month of October, students can bring their proof to the counseling office in room B105. The drawings (10 gift cards) will take place at our college month celebration on Friday, October 30th from 10:30-11:15am in the cafeteria. (10/29)

FINE ARTS

Musical
The musical this year is FROZEN! Come take part in the cast, crew, or pit and be a part of this fantastic and magical show! Audition materials for Cast are in the Choir Room, and any and all questions can be directed to Mr. Moore. All important info is on hastingsmusical.com/frozen (10/30)

Choir
Congratulations to Senior Ava Patterson and Freshman Zachary Neubauer for their successful auditions for and acceptance into the Michigan Regional Honors Choir. Ava and Zachary both have been invited to represent HHS at this prestigious event in December where they will sing with hundreds of other dedicated musicians from across our region. Congrats, Ava and Zachary! (10/23)

Next week is Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week aims to campaign for drug use prevention and violence prevention. So, to help us support others in being drug-free, we encourage you to dress up for the following days:

Monday- Wear red! Show us your support against drug use!

Tuesday- PJ Day! Show up to school in comfy, school-appropriate pajamas.

Wednesday- Red Ribbon Day! Wear your provided red ribbon to show your support.

Thursday- Wrong Occasion! Wear a school-appropriate outfit that wouldn't make sense for school.

Friday- Spooky Saxons! Wear your Saxon gear or a school-appropriate Halloween costume.

- If you have not set up a Final Forms account please do so. Information on how to set up an account can be found on the Athletics page of the school website. 

- Athletes are required to have a Final Forms account in order to participate in a sport.  This account must be set up by the parent/guardian.  If you already have an account, please make sure to update your information and upload a current physical.

Bowling
There will be a meeting for anyone interested in Bowling this upcoming Winter on November 2 at 3:05 in the Athletic Commons.
